Umilta 36 in Rome
Location: The new (2022) glamourous hotel Umilta is located on Via dell’Umilta and is a stone’s throw from the Trevi Fountain. As you approach the property you know you are about to walk into an oasis away from the droves of crowds pushing towards the fountain. A door attendant is always present and ready to assist. The interior of the hotel feels like a swanky lounge with dark hues and velvety textures. Check-in is typical at a 5-star property in Italy. There is a meet and greet and hotel tour. The central location is its selling point. All the major sites are within easy walking distance and the views from rooms and the rooftop bounce around the major monuments. My shower had a perfect view of the Victor Emmanuel monument. The aesthetic of the hotel marries contemporary style with neo-classical details. Wandering around the hotel’s intimate spaces the walls are alive with lovely artworks curated specifically for the hotel’s interiors and it is no surprise that the hotel also doubles as an art gallery.
Rooms: The Umilta has 28 rooms and 19 apartments. All are decorated with a mix of warm woods and marble. The bathrooms are spacious and bright. It was probably the most beautiful amenities kit I have ever found in a hotel bathroom complete with wooden handles on the toothbrushes and razors. The rooms are very spacious unlike many other properties in Rome. We opted for an apartment which was perfect for a family. Our apartment had a living room and bedroom with two large flat screened televisions and gorgeous views of the city. This luxury hotel has many options for solo travelers, couples, and large families.
Amenities: The Umilta 36 has a 24-hour fitness room which you may need after indulging in the hotel’s fine dining. The Dandy café is open all day for light meals, snacks, and of course aperitivi. The new Aquamarina restaurant is located inside the hotel and its menu is focused on seafood. El Porteno Gourmet is located next door at Umilta 37 and boasts a sophisticated menu based on Argentinian cuisine. Both restaurants are solid choices for a non-traditional Italian night out.
In my opinion the Umilta felt luxurious the moment we walked inside. The staff were attentive and considerate. Breakfast was exceptional and worth the additional cost. I must make a note of our early morning departure. They offered us breakfast boxes knowing we were leaving at an untimely hour. Usually, you get a small yogurt, water, and pastry to go. At check out the staff gave us 2 large shopping bags full of every kind of pastry you could imagine and beautifully packaged in small gift boxes. Although we could not eat everything, the attention to detail in this small deed was fitting for the entire experience. This is a true 5-star property in the heart of Rome’s historical center, and I cannot wait to return to this amazing hotel.
